I have a hard time taking public statements by ordinary Russians seriously. Yes, their fear of the Putin regime and their passivity have been hugely problematic, but that doesn't mean they're willing to speak openly about topics like mobilization, even if their docility will lead many to the slaughter in Russia's war on Ukraine.
